Smiths Folly
Does anyone know if it is possible to access Smiths Folly (if indeed it is still there?) or is it on private land? I wish to photograph it. Thanks x

It is now accessed via the grounds of Beane River View which are possibly now private land not sure about that bit but it is fenced off and it is considered a dangerous structure so you can't get close to it or inside it anyway.

Hi - It is private land but if you have a chat with the scheme manager there and explain that you want to take photos of the Folly, she will probably allow this. Don't wander about without permission though as it will worry the sheltered residents.

I had a conversation with Mr Garret in North Rd House some year ago and he talked about the folly and how the gardens used to extend much further. His family used to own Sele Mill and he was full of information.

ah, shame it's only grade II, as I believe grade I means the public has the right to ask to see it etc...

Thanks to everyone who has replied. My niece actually needs to photograph a building in Hertford for a comp at school and I thought this would be a good one to do. Will ring Beane river. Thank you! X

If you can't get permission or it doesn't work and you are interested in inside St Leonards let me know...........that can be arranged.
