Pay on Exit Parking Back on Agenda

I see from the Mercury that Cllr Jackson is again looking at Pay on Exit Parking. About time!! Every other town does this and I like the system. I don't worry how long I shop and can pay with my card if I like... What do other Forum members think? Of course this would rid us of the Wardens patrolling the car parks, what will they do now!!!!![:)]

They would have the time to enforce illegal parking elsewhere....like around lower bengeo.

I expect the parking fees would rise and be blamed on having to install new equipment. However the fact that you can stay in town, shop in the local shops and not worry about running back to your car for fear of a parking fine must be a good idea.

Having just been to Welwyn for the first time since last Christmas I have just experienced the new car park arrangement with ANPR that takes a photo as you enter. Surely this is the way to go in Hertford, it was nice not to have to guess how long we would be or worry about losing the ticketbefore you got back to the machine. Seems like and easy system that would work in hertford and save on the wages of the wardens that are always patolling the car parks.

The wardens will just have more time to patrol other areas, ensuring that people are not parking illegally and dangerously,as in some places it seems people can park where they like.

All for it....the booth is still there by the exit. Why not reduce unemployment a little and employ some people to do things the old fashioned way?

The ANPR system is a nightmare when people don't know their own numberplates! I can't tell you how long I've waited in that queue whilst people send their kids off to read the numberplates

I must have been lucky in WGC no problem at all, no queues and the people that were there all knew thier number plates.

OUCH! That sounds painfull! Anyway I have a novel suggestion for those who can't remember there own number plate.... write it down on a piece of paper! then carry said paper in your purse/wallet. After all you have to get the money out from there to pay at the machine so it makes sense.
