HCC's Chief Executive is retiring. (Hertfordshire Mercury). I wonder what proportion of her £200,000 per annum salary she will receive as a pension; funded out of our council tax. Is she or any of her minions responsible for this act of madness? Tuesday.....3rd January.One HCC Highways Dept vehicle arrives at Rowleys Rd,Hertford. Three workmen dig a hole and install a new lamp post making a very neat job of concreting around the base. Wednesday....4th January. Two trucks with numerous bodies arrive and dig up the freshly laid concrete and then remove the old lamp post. Thursday.....5th January. Another vehicle arrives but he is awaiting the arrival of a "RED VAN"...red van arrives and then the chaps wire up the lamp post; have a chat and clear off. Friday......6th January. Another truck arrives.This time one man only. Has a quick tidy up around the new lamp post and lays 1.5 inches of concrete on top of some loose tarmac and old fag packets.
