Out of the Box Cafe
North London Flying School (Panshanger Airfield)
Went there a few days ago and had a lovely breakfast, it was very busy but the service was great. They do home-made pasta, home-made pizza, paninis and other stuff not beginning with P! Kids meals, specials every weekend and they have an alcohol licence.
You have to be a member to eat there, but at £30 for a lifetime membership it's not too bad and you have a watering hole to stop at when out cycling the highways and byways or just as an alternative when out for a drive.
The cafe itself is not huge but you can sit outside and watch the planes (when it's warmer!)

I have to agree that it is nice to visit that cafe. However I stopped going when they made it members only. Obviously they were becoming fussy about who they wished to serve or just did not want/need my money! It was a nice walk/cycle to get up there from Hertford.
I thought that it was important to support the 'field as well. I would much rather it stayed as an airfield rather than going bust and ending up as a housing estate. A few planes are far more preferable than that many more houses in area where the roads, trains, hospitals and schools are already on the limit. That however is a separate debate.
But the bottom line is, I do not need to pay to use the cafe at wellesbourne, goodwood, shoreham, stapleford and many others which are just as good if not better.
Panshanger is not that special to pay £30 for membership of a cafe!

actually it was said in the forum here when they started changing to members only that it was due to a planning and/or licensing issue that caused the change in rules re: membership. Perhaps the council were unhappy to allow a general public venue due to traffic or something.
