If the authorities are disappointed that they are unable to deter people from driving down a road, and the residents are disappointed that people drive down the road, and the people that drive down the road are disappointed that the residents obstruct the roads with badly parked cars, why don't they just pedestrianise Byde Street?

What an enormous load of old dingo's kidneys! Money spent on signage (it's "signs" by the way)! As for the "Access only" signs, we (lower Bengeo residents) knew they were uniforcible when they went up. You cannot have access only on an entire district, only a single stretch of road. The solution to illegal parking is enforcement and that is possible, but for some reason ignored. The solution to residents complaining about cars going past their door is "buy a yurt in mid Wales", or "shut up with your pointless winging and accept this is a busy commuter town and stop wasting everybody's money".

Yeah! Who gives a s**t about kids not being able to walk to the three schools in the area because the roads are too dangerous? Not any of us here, that's for sure. p

Indeed, all these annoying residents, plus parents who insist on making their children to walk to school, have got to understand that our right to shave a couple of minutes off our car journey in the morning must take preference over everything else.

I have brought up two set of children in the area. The danger was always the parked cars, obscuring vision (particularly for short pedestrians) at junctions, blocked pavements and forcing traffic to move in a less than ideal way. How about the children on Bengeo Street, or those who live on the A414. Shall we close those too? Sorry, the argument just doesn't stand up to any intelligent scrutiny. In all my years as a Lower Bengeo resident, it was always just a few activists who hadn't really thought it out properly. It's cost us all fortunes as weak councillors tried to get a bit of peace.

I pay my taxes including a tax to drive my car on the road. Why should I not be permitted to drive on any road. Roads are for driving along - they are not car parks. Surely most of the residents in the so called Bengeo rat runs were aware of the situation when they purchased their houses and should not expect preferential treatment.

If I understand what you are trying to say James, I agree with you. However, it seems in this case that the impositions are not being fair on the car driver who wishes to go about his business, but are biased in favour of residents and irresponsible parkers.
