Yeomanry
I was wondering if anyone know if there was an Imperial Yeomanry in Hertford. I am researching my family tree and my grandfather states he served in the Yeomanry between 1908 - 1911. I understand that at this time it may have been a private one. I have had no luck with search engines.

Yes there was. I have a couple of books on the Hertfordshire Yeomanry.
An illustrated history, by J D Sainsbury is a good overall guide. I got mine from the history based bookshop in Ware, the name of which eludes me at the moment.
There is a section specifically on The Hertfordshire Yeomanry Territorial Force, as the unit was known from 1908 to 1914.
As far as I can see, the Imperial part of the title was only used for units that served overseas - the Yeomanry served in the Boer War in South Africa and those units that volunteered had the "Imperial' part added to their title.
In October 1908, B squadron was based in Hertford, there were attatched drill stations in Broxbourne, Enfield Lock, Hoddesdon and Sawbridgeworth.
In 1909, at the annual camp in Berkhamsted, there are 119 men on roll in B squadron.
