Dye family
If anyone is ever interested in the family tree of the Dye family as in Dye's Coaches and the Chimney sweeps etc feel free to contact me as I have a fairly comprehensive one I have been given for the Oral History Group and I have now got it on some software.
I won't be publishing it obviously but if anyone thinks they may be related let me know.
I am beginning to think everyone in Hertford was related, just found a link to the Dye family from my own family...............

I remember a Reg Dye, decorator, whose name is still above a garage in Church Road. He turned up at a Civic Society garden party once, and asked for a pint of bitter....

Yes he is one of them on the family tree..................they are a huse family and seem to have married into most local families, including a branch of mine!

I remember Mr Reg Dye with great affection. A gent of the old school. He and his wife used to live in Parkhurst Rd Bengo. A phone call to him, would bring him or one of his workforce round the same or next day 'to review the situation' and if possible fix it the same day or within the week, it could have been plumbing,guttering or roofing. To me as a youngster at the time they all seemed fairly old, Mr Dye always wore a flat cap, but there was no stopping them shooting up two floors on the ladder when the need arose. The bill never arrived till a month or two later

The Dye family were very supportive to Goldings, and Alderman Dye was on the Goldings committee,and I beleive it was the Dye family who were cleaning out the chimneys at Goldings when the boy got trapped and died,more information on History at http://www.goldings.org Dave,Goldings 1962-65

Yes it was one of the Dye boys that died in Golding's chimney.
