Davis Street
Does anyone know where this was? I've discovered some ancestors living there in 1914.

Davies Street is still there off Railway Place behind the Saracens Head in Ware Road, originally Railway Terrace. Changed to Davies Street after Dr John Davies who was the landlord and a pioneer of plastic surgery
You will find a bit about its history in the book "Priory Fields" avaliable from the Museum and Tourist Information Centre.
If you want to give me the house number I can check if they were there in 1911 for you if it is any help.

Thanks Marilyn - I'd searched without the extra "e". The family were in Oak St in 1911 - I've already got that census return. I will definitely get the book on Ware Road.

Ah yes the book covere Oak Street as well...........I think you will like it. The extra "E" does get missed of sometime but I think the road should have it! Will have to go and look and see if the street sign is with or without!
When you get the book you will find a map with both roads on, they didn't go far!

Had to go into town so bought the book - good photo of Oak St in the old Gaol estate. Thanks for the recommendation.
