Hertford CC and new school site ?
In this weeks Mercury there is a story about Herts County Council owning part of the Mangrove road site currently occupied by the cricket club and that it is possible that the site may be 'reclaimed' and used as a school.
Sadly, it isn't very specific about which bit of the club's pitches might go.
Anyone any idea ?

I'd imagine that this is the site of the Balls Park rugby pitch that we also used to use for Richard Hale and the mat pitch to the right of the drive as you enter. Its a big plot and I didn't realise that it hadn't been sold as part of the Balls Park lot. I can't see it as a good site for a school as its on the fringe of town and very close to Mangrove/Abel Smith/Simon Balle and would create even more traffic in the area. In addition if planning permission can be gained surely it would be more efficient to sell the site for housing as it must be a prime site?
Personally speaking its a lovely spot and it would be a shame to see it developed but its under utilised at the moment and probably just a drain on HCC funds.

Just a shame they didn't bulldoze the old Police station down and make a bigger Wheatcroft school there in the area its needed! Not rocket science that one.. Cannot understand why they ever didn't think of it!!!!!

Because they don't own the police station site. Nor would they want to purchase the site in it's entirety just to use a small part of it. Besides, it's been bought by Barratt Homes who are about to start demolition themselves and build housing.
