Chicken & Coops
My daughter wants chickens and having had them as a child I thought I might investigate further.
Does anyone here have or had chickens/bantams recently?
I am looking on any tips, thoughts and local suppliers of note if possible.

head to the hatfield show and buy some there :)
Alternatively, there's a great place in letchworth - thornes garden nursery, they are very friendly and helpful and it's a great place to have a nosy around. the birds are top quality too.
Beware of ex battery hens etc; nice thing to do etc, and you will get some eggs, however, some will die pretty quickly too, always happens, so make sure you're prepared for that!

Another recommendation for Thornes, whilst never kept chickens. We live opposite them in Fairfield Park (used to live in Hertford) and visit regularly for the garden centre and they are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and very passionate about what they do – the chicken always seem to be in good condition and usually buy our fresh eggs from them. They also have a nice café in the garden centre which is worth a visit.

I visited Thornes Nursery on the weekend and was impressed by the owners and the stock. I hope to pick a couple of point of lay birds next week.

We have enjoyed 18 months of fresh eggs and chicken ownership but due to a change of circustances it is now no longer practical to carry on.
I am wondering if anyone knows of someone who would may be interested in 2 very well looked after & healthy Rhode Island hybrids, both great layers.
