Hertford town centre's longest running retailers
Following on from the sad news about Stead and Simpson closing, which are some of the longest running shops in Hertford town centre still using the same name?

I would think Sheffield's might well be the longest.
Boots was on the corner of Maidenhead Street and Bull Plain but I think Sheffield's was there first anyway.
Hertford Camera's was indeed CameraCraft
Some are still in the same business but names have changed.

Yes McMullens do they count though not strictly retailers as in shops. If you go down that route The Salisbury Hotel is probably the oldest

Botsford's is a long established business though I think it is new hands it still retains the name and usage and I think the same shop though they have been in other places round the town at various times. They had a shop on the Bus Station before Bircherley Green was built.

Decorated Room was an InterAid shop (fore-runner of Oxfam) for many years. Very dark and dingy and because they collected silver foil and milk bottle tops too, didn't smell too sweet either.

Sheffield's has above the door est 1806 so it has to be the longest retail shop (not counting pubs) still using the same name and in the same business
