Wandered past on Saturday morning - there were workmen in the place gutting the building by the looks of it, so I suspect the work on the hotel conversion has started. What exactly makes a hotel a boutique hotel, by the way?

One off/trendy/non-chain/unique/oppulent etc...the exact opposite say to the Marriot in Cheshunt or the Salisbury in Hertford. Think is will be great news for Hertford.

You pull up outside the hotel doors and someone takes your car off to a nearby public car park - great idea in my opinion.

In Central London Boutique Hotel = Small, expensive, trendy, modern and full of poseurs.. but something everyone if they could afford it would like to stay in!!! [:D]

A decent Boutique Hotel will only benefit Hertford. I do not have enough room to put more than a couple of people up, so where do yo tell them to stay when they come to Hertford? The Sailsbury? (Chuck out your Chintz) every other Hotel is a cab ride away. Lets get the hotel open, get the tunnels etc open and maybe people will come to Hertford more. So you have to be a poseur now to stay in a boutique hotel? Thats a new one on me. Off to baroosh for a beer!

The parking solution involves the multi-storey car park on Gascoyne Way. I believe there is a need for a new hotel in Hertford. I believe the other options are The Salisbury, The White Horse in Hertingfordbury and The Ram (It used to be a B&B).

Salisbury= Antiquated White Horse= Cab ride Ram= B&B Mercury Building= Newly refurbed posh hotel right in the center of town. As long as the price is right, its a no-brainer.

i personal would love to stay there just to have a nose around at the inside of the building as the out side lookes interesting im sure the inside would be the same. although i'd love to have been able to get in before they gutted it, but oh well ...
