Tesco Books

I see that Teco have started stocking a number of 'local interest' books on Hertford and surrounding area, although I hope that the museum's book sales are not impacted as a result. Whowever does the the ordering needs to learn how to spell though - I suspect the 'lost railways' of Herefordshire and Worcester will have limited appeal.

That's not just Tesco though I have corrected a number of sellers on e bay on that point....listing Hereford items as Hertford...I remember when I worked for Mrs Paddick in The Bouquet and Blossoms were were often sending orders back that came through Interflora for Hereford, would be a long way to deliver!

When we had our Art Shop, Hertfordshire Graphics supplied a few people in South Wales with Art Materials after misreading our name as a stockist on SkyText pages[:)]

When I was working in Elaines Card shop (opposite the Castle Hall) I had a delivery driver come in looking very lost, he was trying to find an address in Hereford. He was not happy when I pointed out he was in completely the wrong place, especially when he realised quite how far away he was from where he should be.

When my Australian friends arrived at Heathrow, they gave the written down address to the taxi driver. He wasn't too pleased when he arrived in Hereford, then had a long drive back to Hertford. This was before the use of Sat Nav!!

I doubt they will have the range that the Museum have and I am not sure anyone would think o look there anyway.....the Museum and the Tourist Information are the obvious places and Tesco won't have access to all the books they have anyway the Oral History Group are unlikely to supply them or the Museum with its own publications!

Birthday and Christmas cards from my Grandma are always addressed to Hereford. I've tried explaining, but in general an 86 year-old Yorkshirewoman won't be told.
