The Dolphin
I see that Mac's want to shut The Dolphin, claiming that it hasn't done much business for a fair few years. This is hardly surprising given the dishevelled state of the place. It's clearly not had an interior refurb for a decade or two.
However, it does seem a rather shortsighted decision given that 200 homes are soon to be built on the doorstep. It could have a new lease of life if they spent a bit of money doing it up and pitched it as a local for the new residents.

Shame on Mc Mullens for letting this excellently situated pub run to ruin, still exactly the same inside and out as it was 23 years ago when i first drank there.
They are obviously not prepared to spend time and money renovating this potential gold mine...maybe because they have half the clan demanding a fast buck!

That pub could be a gold mine.
With so many people getting the train into Hertford on Friday and Sat, they could pick up huge amounts of passing trade if it modernised.
In the week, they should be aiming at commuters, and food.

I think this says more about the state of McMullens than the state of the Dolphin, I am quite sure that it will not be the last Mac's pub to go either.

Macs is NOT a brewing company anymore. Its valuation as a company is based purely on the mkt value of its properties.
All valuations dismiss the brewing almost completely. One by one you will see properties being sold off.
