Was shopping here yesterday and noticed costa coffee gone :-( and this candy cakes opened, I did not buy anything just browsed at the cakes they look nice , they also make birthday cakes noticed a football one at around £150 I'm sure??!!

I saw them yesterday. I also overhead one member of staff ask the other where the best before dates were on the cupcakes. The response was "They are not on there. We do the squidge test." The member of staff then went on to squeeze the cupcakes to see which was fresh. Not very encouraging is it?

A fair financial commitment is required - the cupcakes (whatever happened to buns?) are about £2.80 to £3.50 a go, thanks to the sprinkling of a bit of edible glitter. Thanks but no thanks.

£130 for the cake? That is astonishing. My friend used to make cakes as a business and she said it was approximately £1 per portion with a minimum spend. I ordered a cake to feed 50 and it cost me £50. And it was stunning (fish and chips theme to go with my OH business). I would have thought most people in the cake business were charging similar.

I didn't even see the prices. After hearing them discussing the squidge test, I carried on walking. The prices quoted on here are crazy! Will take a look today and see what other bargains they are offering!!!

£48 for a cheap looking cake with a picture of a child on it. Shame that the aspect ratio of the picture is all squashed up. Even one of Tesco's own staff was commenting on the outrageous pricing to me earlier today.

Yes,the pricing does seem quite high,as there are quite a few other cake suppliers in and around the area that offer what seems to be a far better product for a cheaper price. But,this is probably because they are based in their own homes or in cheaper premises.

We had an excellent super chocalatey gateau thingy with dark, milk and white chocolate straws (thick ones) all the way round which could easily have fed 20 - 30 people for £30-£40 freshly made by Belgique (in Ware I know but hey..). It was still georgeous a week after the event (S Jnr's 18th). Candy Cakes have clearly priced themselves out of my market for now.

I went back to have a look at the cakes today and sure enough the football cake was over £100! I don't want to be too rude about a new business, but it did not look very appealing, and it also did not look to be worth that amount of money. If someone does buy it then they have more money than I do. I cannot comment on the taste as I didn't buy anything so I may be very unfair. I wish them luck. There seemed to be a lot of interest there as many people were gathered around the cupcakes etc.
