Buggered off on retirement without telling anyone (as far as I know). Rang for a check up & was told he had gone. Actually bless him , sums up his bedside manner, he was always a tad brusk But damn good at what he did. Had eye test & intro to new people. Err.. not that impressed. Accept they had recently taken over, but the point was I had gone there to sort my contacts & ended up with keen young guy trying to sell me designer specs... At premium prices. Went with a heavy heart to Boots & well impressed...

I had a letter informing me, that I needed to fill in a new direct debit as the business has changed hands. I have yet to do so, but have paid Stuart Davidson two payments towards the three to get my contact lenses. I have not been in to meet the owner yet, but not impressed, at the way I was informed after the event. I hope to visit today. I know Les Yeux are a small independent, with only one other shop in Harpenden, as I googled it. I wonder if anyone else has any experience of Les Yeux. I hope that the company are good, as at least it is another independent.

The website suggests to me that the prime service here is to flog designer frames. A shame as I only moved to Stuart Davidson last year after indifferent service from Boots and Specsavers. Aves in Ware next time then.

Went from SD to Aves in Ware about two years ago when I was struggling to get an appointment at the time I wanted. They are very, very good.

I went fron SD to Boots about 12 months ago and was very happy, sounds like something has changed there recently so will have to be prepared to change again I guess!

I use Boots Opticians and have found them to be extremely good. No issues whatsoever.

I know someone who for 15 years has travelled from Surrey to see Ken Pullum. You don't get that sort of trust and loyalty by trying to flog expensive extras to customers.

I had a dreadful experience at Boots Optician and would never go back. I have been very happy with Specsavers. They have been excellent for me and were so kind & helpful with my young son, I would recommend them without hesitation.

I visited Les Yeux, on Saturday and met the owner, who I have to say was very nice and helpful.I am going to try the new practice and see how I get on. I don't think I can face going to Boots or Specsavers. I would rather, stick with a small independent. I used to go to Ken Pullum, many years ago and he was good.
