Suggestions on where to go for a nice Sunday lunch? Would prefer a pub type meal but never too sure what is open any more or re-opening!

On Sunday we went to the Millstream for lunch for the first time in years. The garden is lovely, conservatory nicely decorated. Staff friendly. Champagne and Oyster bar in garden looks great. However the food was average: hard roast potatoes not at all crispy, Yorkshire pud looked good but was soft and bland, all very average. Just 2 items to choose from for dessert. Disappointing, will not be back to eat.

Yes it's a shame as it's walking distance for us. Let's hope they up their game! Had I known about the rating we wouldn't have gone, and now we know that we are more likely to avoid it!

I have been eating at the Millstream for several years and have never had a bad meal. It shocked me to hear of the rating they were given as if the kitchen reflects the rest of the pub, it should be spotless.

I've had a couple of meals at the Millstream and neither of them were any good. The second time I ate there my grilled chicken took about 45 minutes to appear, presumably because it takes that long to turn a chicken breast into a shoe sole. Given all that and their hygiene rating I was quite scared to see them advertising an Oyster and Lobster festival! Other than that it's a lovely place, and I enjoy going there for a pint regularly.

In Wales they are making it a legal requirement to display the FSA rating sticker where it can be easily seen, shame thats not happening here as well. You would think there must be good reasons why a business is rated as 1 out of 5 - and not just for incompleted / missing paperwork or similar issues!!

I normally just assume that if an establishment isn't showing their FSA rating, they have something to hide. Most places with a 4 or 5 rating prominently display them in the window or door as you enter.

I went in there for lunch today. Really good service. I had the burger and my wife had a vegetarian pasta. They were both excellent and I and my wife are pretty critical when it comes to food. I cant believe that this place got a 1 star rating, must have been a change of kitchen staff or some disaster for that to have happened. I really recommend giving it another go. [/quote]
