Can anyone recommend somewhere in the Hertford area where I can buy free range eggs with deep coloured yolks? I've recently had some from Pearces farm shop but was disappointed with them.

The Pantry in the Avenue Bengeo sell Mrs Norths Free range, you can also buy them from a man on the market on Saturdays. I'm sure he's very nice but | get mine from the Pantry.

Thank you for info. Mrs T - I drove there this morning and bought 1/2 dozen to try. I had to get out of the shop quickly as I was tempted to buy a bacon butty - the smell of sizzling bacon was divine. BTW, I didn't even know there were shops in The Avenue - well I've only lived in Hertford for 18 years! Will definitely have a trip back when I have more time as the hairdresser's and flower shop looked like they were worth a visit. Thanks also to you Darcy Sarto, I find duck eggs a little rich for eating on their own but they are great to use for cake baking.

Check out "Clarence Court - Burford Brown" eggs, you can get them from Sainsburys or Waitrose - although unsure if they sell them in our local shops, nicest eggs I've had, delicious.

Bacon's Farm, on Holly Grove Road - the road which goes from the B1000 to Bramfield, have eggs at the end of the farm driveway together with an honesty box to leave your cash in. Don't eat eggs myself but I understand the yare very good.

I bought free range eggs Monday from the new farm shop in town, across the road from Barclays, £1.60 and very nice :)

Go with jackanapes on the Burfords. Excellent. (Mind we also have the wonderful Chicken Tim in my local. You don't buy but if you are very lucky he may give you some from his hens. Apparently they lay better to Chicago Blues)
