Sloppy Joes
Sloppy Joes is to reopen as Sloppy Joes again.
in its day it was different and innovative
be interesting to see how it fares nowadays, with sooo many similar
bars in Hertford...

If I recollect correctly it was more than just an evening bar, closer to a mini TGI Fridays ?
It was frequented by families and youth under 18 where they could hang-out and eat freshly cooked burgers etc through-out the day and then was a cosy bar in the evening.
I think the newcomer in its old space is probably the Snug and it doesnt compete with the mainstrean Pubs or Baroosh (no kids allowed) etc.
It went down hill when they introduced a DJ, bouncers and 2am close etc, they lost all the daytime custom I believe.
It may have a different model now but I welcome them back!

I remember Sloppy Joes when I started work in Hertford (I lived in North Herts) back in 1987 (yes, I started work when I was about 3, clearly!).

I helped my friends get together and they're still married now when we were all in Sloppys and remember the fantastic authentic American burgers and cocktails.. It was a lovely place, always had great bar staff... missed it .. and I too remember bottles..
