Traffic in Bengeo
Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the dreadful traffic situation in the roads up to Bengeo from Hertford North station? With cars parked on both sides of the road, only 1 car can get past at any time. this leads to terrible traffic jams and near misses at all hours of the day, but especially in rush hour. why aren't these roads one way? this would make the traffic flow much better and would be much much safer... your thoughts awaited....

Seeing how long they often queue at the roundabout, and how much hassle they have getting round Byde St. and nelson St. (as well as the hassle they cause), I find it hard to believe that it is actually quicker to go that route than use Port Hill. Traffic lights or no traffic lights.

Technically, Beane Road is supposed to be 'access only', which would stop the rat-running. The junction at wellington/nelson is murder at some times, as no-one can actually get round the corner. And if like me you're driving up wellington from your house, other drivers often assume you're about to turn left down nelson and just pull out in front of you!!!
I'm very worried for the safety of Bengeo mogs too

depends which way you're coming into bengeo skanky. if you're coming from stevenage direction, it'd be a nightmare to go up port hill..so instead i take my car's life in my hands everyday...

It should stop people but a lot of drivers tend to ignore less usual road signs. Judging by how few of them indicate at the roundabout by North station, I'd say there's a fair few who probably don't even see the signs, let alone know what they mean.
It's also impossible enforce as where does "access" refer to. How far up the hill? And how does it get enforced? Stopping all cars and checking their address? How would that go down with the public? I'm quite glad my stay on Byde St. is temporary.
If you're coming from Stevenage to Bengeo (up the hill), isn't it easier to cut across at Waterford and come in from the north, past the school?

my mistake - i meant coming from stevenage direction. basically i come from hatfield, and leave the A414 at hertingfordbury junction - going the long way round takes another 20 -30 mins some nights - which is too much when my journey is already 1 hr!!
is there anything we can do about the roads? i mean, if the council have asked for residents feedback, they should be answerable as to what they are planning to do to resolve the issue. otherwise, what a waste of time and our tax payers money asking for feedback...

Sorry, you did say "Stevenage direction", I just assumed that meant Stevenage. I bet there are people who could use that route who don't though.
Well, the item that got highest percentage of votes was a barrier across Byde St.....
