Its not Esso, its the franchise. It got bought out a few years back, and ever since then...high prices, £3 sandwiches. Anyone else notice the fade out of half the "Ginsters" lines and the introduction of many new "homemade" lines? "Pittas" stuffed with 80% lettice. Avoid if you can. Rip off. Same as the store on Watton Road.

The AA used to have a frebie "petrol busters" site that gave you the cheapest petrol within ,say, a 5 /10 mile radius. Was "disconected" many months ago now - anyone know if ther are other simular sites?? They still have a fuel price report http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/fuel/index.html For info the regularly cheapest & nearest was on the road into Broxbourne , even matched Sainsburys, & this one is/was private.... Anyway going further than a few miles now is just not viable unless you are passing by.

I use a Jet garage at Fourways in Hoddessdon, opposite the BP on the Ware Road, which is always at least 2p cheaper. Why anyone uses BP I have no idea. BP is mostly owned by UK Government, so it has higher prices all around. I find the lack of competitive petrol stations in Hertford unbelievable and for a County Town, not enough. If you're in Hoddesdon, use the Jet Garage.. [:)]

you must remeber a few years back that we stopped buying petrol and due to the reduced demand, the petrol companies put the price dowm. Not sure of the ins and outs but it worked.

Esso are presently showing no price at all for their Petrol! Hope this doesn't mean it's gone over £1 and they haven't got room for all the figures in their display board!

I went to Esso last night. It wasnt at the £1 mark yet. Bengeo is at £1.039 which will certainly ensure that I continue to use Tesco at Hatfield, especially when you spend £50 in store on shopping, as you get 5pence off of each litre of fuel. all in all this made them about 11 pence cheaper a litre than Bengeo.

According to this website, the Esso garage on the Hertingfordbury Road was yesterday charging 78.9 for a litre of unleaded! I think that may be just a little bit inaccurate! It's in fact 95.9 today which is not cheap - I filled up in St Evenage this morning for 93.9.
