School Expansion Ruled Out

The County Council have ruled out expansion at either Wheatcroft or Abel Smith schools, following a petition from the SG13 Primary School Action Group.

Parents are concerned about a serious shortage of primary school places in the east of Hertford.

The Council's Director of Education has written to the group saying that neither school will be expanded for the coming ediucational year due to constraints on the sites and lack of parking.

The authority are currently considering expansion of either Hollybush, Morgans or Bengeo Primary. However, these three schools are to the north or west of the town and would involve either a long walk or travel by car or bus.

A final decision on which school is to be expanded will be made on Tuesday 13th March.
