Castle Grounds Centenary

Thursday 12 July 2012

Events will take place on Sunday 22nd July to mark the centenary of Hertford Castle's grounds being open to the public.

The programme includes the Royston Town Band playing a special Band Concert to mark the occasion, with refreshments provided by St John Ambulance.

Hertford Castle Bowls Club, who met in the Castle grounds from 1925 - 1953, will be attending, offering the public an opportunity to take part in this sport.

The Friends of Hertford Castle will be leading free guided tours of the Castle, and have mounted a special exhibition to mark the centenary in the Castle Conservatory. For those who want to read more, there will be a booklet to purchase, which provides an insight into the events that have taken place in the Castle grounds over the last 100 years.

The event will run between 2.30 and 5.00 p.m. and admission is free. Donations will be welcomed to the Mayor of Hertford’s Appeal Fund; this year supporting The Alzheimer’s Society in East Herts.
