An English Celebration

Street performers will be providing entertainment in the town centre as part of the town council's English Celebration next Saturday (20th)

The event opens with a Puppet Show in Bircherley Green Shopping Centre at 10.30am. The Hertfordshire Hollies Morris Dancers will the be dancing in Parliament Square between 11.00 and 12 noon. Drama students and amateur actors will be performing extracts with a Shakespearean theme in both Bircherley Green and Parliament Square between 11.00am and 1pm.

At 12.15 pm Three Chicks and a Guitar will kick off an afternoon of music in Bircherley Green. They will be followed by solo act Roxy Searle and flautist Nikki King. The event will conclude with a final puppet show in Bircherley Green Shopping Centre from 3pm.

A strolling puppeteer will be performing throughout the town centre during the day including Parliament Square at 12 noon and Hertford Museum around 2.15pm. The Museum will alsp be running an "English" trail for children for the day.

The Celebration coincides with the opening of the new Leaf café in Old Cross which will be running appropriately themed craft and writing sessions for children throughout the day. A Knights and Princess session will run from 11.00am until 12 noon. Between 2pm and 3pm a Hubble Bubble, Toil and Shakespearean trouble craft and writing session will be run.
